> 韓国で、日本企業に強制労働させられたと主張するいわゆる元徴用工らの訴訟を支援する弁護士団体と市民団体は14日、南西部、光州(クァンジュ)で記者会見し、元徴用工や遺族計 33人が三菱マテリアルなど日本企業6社を相手取って損害賠償を求める訴訟を光州地裁に起こしたと明らかにした。
A lawyers organization and civic organization(s) in S. Korea supporting lawsuits filed by former conscripted workers, who argue to be imposed forced labor by Japanese companies, held a press briefing in Gwangju, south-western part in S. Korea. They clarified that totally 33 persons, former conscripted workers and bereaved, filed a compensation seeking lawsuit with Gwangju District Court against six Japanese companies, including Mitsubishi Materials Corp.

Other than that, defendant companies are Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Nishimatsu Construction Co., Ltd., Nippon Coke & Engineering. Co., Ltd. and Hokkaido Colliery & Steamship Co., Ltd.
At Gwangju District Court, 54 persons including former conscripted workers also filed a lawsuit against nine Japanese companies in April last year. However, according to Yonhap News Agency, Japanese side rejected to receive a written complaint, and a trial has yet been opened.

The organizations side argued to Tokyo and Japanese companies that "Japan-S. Korea friendship and improvement of the bilateral relations are difficult, without remorse for the past."
They demanded to promptly establish a a consultative panel, formed by Japanese- and S. Koran scholars and political- and business circles, which is proposed by the plaintiff lawyers of conscripted workers lawsuits and so on.
